(More customer reviews)After doing some research online the Sewell Minideck USB to DVI kept coming up as the solution to my problem; connecting an additional monitor to my 2008 Alum Macbook. I already have an external monitor attached via HDMI to Display Port but wanted more monitor "real-estate".
The Minideck does its job by allowing me to connect a 3rd monitor to my computer.
If you have done your research, you already know that USB to video output has its problems and unfortunately this contraption does not do away with the "lag factor". Moving the mouse has a SLIGHT bit of a lag as well as moving windows around on the screen. This might be because I have the monitor connected VGA - Swell Minideck - USB, i've ordered a DVI cord, so hopefully that will help with the lagginess.
The lag factor is NOT a deal-breaker though, it just takes time to get used to. Of course you wouldn't want to run any video (youtube) on the usb connected screen, but for simple web browsing and word/spreadsheet processing it does its job.
I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to add an additional monitor to their current MAC OS X setup!
Update: Connected monitor to HDMI to DVI and plugged into Minideck. Lag is SLIGHTLY reduced compared to VGA to Minideck which is worth noting.

The Sewell Minideck USB to DVI/VGA display adapter is like an external video card you connect to your system, adding an extra monitor (supporting native resolutions of screens up to 24") to your desktop through a single USB port.Once you have multiple monitors connected to your computer system, you will be able to use them in 'extended desktop mode' which means you can use all screens like one contiguous screen, or 'mirror mode' which shows the same image on both screens at all times.Resolution Improvements From Past ModelsThe main improvement from past models is its new resolution capabilities. The Minideck can support up to 1920 x 1200 (native 24" resolution), 2048 x 1080 (1080p: Full HD for HDTVs), and 2048 x 1152. The minideck now also offers a resting base to give your adapter a home (instead of being strung up with the rest of your system's cables). How This WorksInstallation is as easy as using the included CD to install the DisplayLink driver (or downloading the driver if you have a Mac), and connecting the USB and video cables.DVI, VGA, and HDMIEvery Minideck comes with a DVI to VGA adapter so you can use a VGA monitor, and a DVI to HDMI adapter so you can go straight to your HDTV with beautiful 1080p. This is possible due to the Minideck's DVI-I (Analog and Digital integrated video) output. You will also need a separate audio cable to run from your computer to your TV's RCA audio inputs if you are planning on watching video with sound.Add Up To Six ScreensYou can connect as many as 6 Minidecks to your system to connect up to six displays to your computer. You can set all screens to 'mirror mode' or 'extended desktop mode.'Minimal System RequirementsMinideck does not require your computer to be very advanced in order to work. It just requires you have a 1.2 GHz or higher processor, 30MB of disk space, and 256 MB RAM.
